Natural Born Love Poem
“You know, the only thing
that kills the demon is love.”
-Mallory Knox
This is the love poem
This is the poem for 5 am lovers separated
by class and birth, Walls and war and death,
feuds and ancient ancestral hates.
This is a poem screaming at mute screens
as a useless phone is hurled into the darkness
after the 666th call goes unanswered
in another sleepless night. This is a poem
that defies desperation and loneliness asserting
the superhuman survival instincts burning defiantly
against the digital despair. This is a poem
for a tender illusionary connection to the faceless
avatars of humanity. This is a poem for two
psychopaths killing each others demons.
